More brief movie reviews:

The Bank Job is a nice little caper, a little darker than you might expect. It also manages to capture the late 70s with surprising authenticity.

I actually caught Casanova on TV the other day. When it came out, I assumed it was a ridiculous-anachronistic-boneheaded-romantic comedy (a vastly overrepresented genre), but actually the movie is quite good. It's a farce in the grand tradition of Italian opera, sans the singing. It's unfortunate that Heath Ledger took such an early exit - his career was just getting started. Who knows how Terry Gilliam's latest would have turned out? (though the rewrite might in fact turn out better than the original)

I'm now halfway through my fourth semester, which means I've earned my DN degree. Almost made it...
